About
Dekel Nitzan is an Israeli writer and director based in Berlin.
He is a Dean’s List graduate of the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University and an alumnus of the prestigious Berlinale Talents program. Dekel’s four short films have been screened at numerous film festivals worldwide, earning multiple awards.
A few years ago, Dekel began working as a professional screenwriter, contributing to HASHOTRIM, one of KESHET 12's most successful drama series in recent years. He has since collaborated with various production companies, developing creative concepts and writing full episodes. In 2023, Dekel graduated from Serial Eyes, one of Europe’s leading television development programs. In 2024, Dekel was selected for an apprenticeship at the London-based production company "Big Light." There, he worked closely with acclaimed writer and producer Frank Spotnitz (The Man in the High Castle, The X-Files), participated in writers' room, and played an active role in the company's development team.
Currently, Dekel is developing projects funded by both German and Israeli production companies and broadcasters.
Besides his work as a screenwriter, Dekel serves as a screenwriting tutor at Catalyst - Institute for Creative Arts and Technology.
